Heard good and bad about both, anyone used both? I'm trying to decide what to use on my new build.

I'm on my 3rd tank using the herbie. That's all I'll ever use from now on. It's dead silent and easy to dial in. Put a gate valve on the main drain and dial it in until the water level in your overflow box quits making a water fall sound.

Can't imagine anything negative about either. A Bean Animal is just a Herbie with a separate dry emergency.

If they are executed properly there is not a down side I can think of. They are both dead silent, redundant and simple to tune. If your overflow is drilled for only two drains, run the Herbie. If you have to drill your tank you might as well drill 3 holes and run the BA with that extra level of redundancy.

I love my bean. If drilling a tank I usually go bean. Nothing wrong with the herbi, I just like the extra emergency drain...just cause you never know.
