Herbie overflow into waterfall turf scrubber?

Hmm interesting. Do you think it would be too much flow?
Im not sure Ive been gettin mixed reviews on RC and Nano reef, some say do it some say not too. Ive heard it will make the siphon and return unstable. I have Ehiem 2000 for my return I just dont want to loose head pressure in my return teeing it off for the scrubber, but maybe its for the best to do it that way. I just need as many opinions on this as possible i havent found anything on it yet.

Why not just get a small pump.
Less hassle I think. Z

How about an up flow scrubber? Less room and all you need to is run an air pump line.

If you get a project box and fit in a hot sink with correct leds- fit both sides with magnets and keep the lighted side on dry side of pump, you could. Are you a do-it-yourselfer?

this my setup. My drain will feed into the acrylic box i made at the front of the sump the vertical box at the back of it is for the scrubber. Hopefully this gives a better idea of what im doing.

Just to be honest- have had a few designs myself and never done it the way you are- which doesn't mean much. Keep me updated. Curious how it works out.

will do! Im going to be doing a build thread here, reef central, and on nano reef once its complete and cycled

If your still trying the drain as the scrubber you could be asking for trouble. If for some reason the drain becomes clogged or partially clogged with algae, your drain speed will slow. Which means your return is pumping more than you are draining. Which may cause an overflow. Or the pump may run dry instead of overflow the tank. If I was gonna do this I would def have a full siphon(for the scrubber), a Durso, and an emergency drain. I believe it is called a "bean-animals overflow"

Im not to worried about the main drain getting clogged i think i should be safe enough, plus i have the E-drain as well
