I have a new 60g Deep blue frag tank. Corner overflow has 3/4 inch and 1 inch holes predrilled with weir installed. I plan on using
a herbie drain. 3/4 inch will be siphon and 1 inch is emergency. Question, my stand is DIY and made in a way that I might have to put a 45 degree (2) on the siphon line as i can't drop the siphon line into the sump via a direct line as there is a slight deviation between the predilled holes and stand/sump area.. If I did this will it affect the siphon related to noise issues?

Thanks!

I'm using the herbie and had to do 45's in my drains. Mine is completely silent. Left is the emergency drain, right is main drain.

Same as question ^above^ typically the larger is for full siphon and smaller for emergency. I have dual 'Herbies' with 1-1/2" mains and 3/4" emergency. Because you are restricting the main drain with a gate valve to get full siphon it is easier to do so with larger diameter plumbing IME.

Cheers, Todd
