Sooo I been looking for suitable herbivores for a smallish peaceful reef tank. New to the hobby and planning on it being a softie dominated maybe a few LPS in time. A gobbie hopefully with accompanying shrimp, clown fish, royal gramma, halichoeres wrasse (not sure which one), and a firefish. Been trying to do my homework and pick compatible livestock, and not over stock either. Just hit a road block on something to eat algea in only a 50g cube since tangs, and rabbitfish are out of picture.

I have a sailfin tang in my 60 cube, he's growing slow and seems happy. If he gets too big its just an excuse to get another tank. He's about a year old here.

What about an algae or combtooth blenny? Blennies have the best personalities.

I don’t like the idea of swapping tangs because you risk bringing in disease (dare I say velvet) with every swap.

If you want a Tang then a Tomini would be the best choice but all tangs can be potential bullies when they get bigger.

I had opposite experience in that my sailfin Tang was the size of a quarter and grew very fast. To maybe 4 inches in a few months.

Tuxedo urchin. I have two in my 120 and my rocks couldn’t be cleaner. Just glue your corals down or they will wear them.
