Hi folks,

Well, I bought my tank and some of the equipment, so I thought I would start my thread.

Tank is an Aqueon 90 gal Corner Flow, 48x18x25.

I have the following pieces of equipment to start with, but have more to buy.
Marine Series Pro In-Sump Protein Skimmer 100
Aquatop 300 Watt Digital Heater
SpeedWave DC SWDC790 Pump
Eshopps RS-100 Reef Sump

For my recirc pumps, I was planning on going with a couple of Koralia EVO 850GPH pumps. Still not sure on that yet. A lot of folks have been talking about those WP25 pumps.

Also, I am not sure about the lighting.

I plan on starting with basic, hardy fish and corals. So, I don't need anything real fancy yet.

Accepting all thoughts and ideas. :-)

Thanks
Herb

Here's a picture of my tank. I had to stain a portion of the stand. Now she's ready to start plumbing. I do have a question about the sump in the other picture. Right above where the sock is, is the hole for the tubing coming down from the overflow of the tank. Does the tubing have to stick down into the sock? Or can it be connected to the hole at the top of the sump? I have a connector that will attach the tubing to the acrylic top where the hole is. And the water would fall into the sock. Thanks in advance.

Hi folks,

Well, I am ready to put water into my tank. I am first going to use tap water to check for leaks. I will also rinse off the rocks I am going to use. Here's a picture of the dead rocks I plan on starting with. How do the formations look?

Thanks

Oh, and I plan on adding some live rock once I get the salt water setup. I know some folks say to go with all live rock, but this way fit my budget a lot better.

Nice. I've started most of my tanks with dry rock and never had issues, but seeding it with a couple pieces of liverock is always greatly beneficial. as far as your concern with the filter sock goes, if you have the water just falling into the filter sock its going to be noisy. I always place a small PVC extension down into the sock and that greatly reduces the noise.
