Do hermit crabs have “favorite spots”?

over the past few days I’ve noticed that one of my hermit crabs can usually be found posted right up next to one of my goniopora. Not really moving around much. Just hanging out.I’ve pulled him off the spot cuz I’m sure my goni is a little miffed by his up close and personal proximity. The next day, he’s back.I had to pull him off again today because this time he had a buddy on his back who was about to attempt to crawl in my goni.

anyone else have a crab who likes a particular spot to chill?

I have a Hawaiian strawberry crab that has a favorite barnacle, a male emerald crab that has 2 favorite haunts - but most of my hermits range all over the place.

Yeah, I've got one now that's often at the highest point of the aquascaping. Urchins can have a favorite place too.

Also a behavior they display right before a molt

I imagine they have favorite spots. Might be the ambiance...might be the flow drops food particles in that area.

I've seen quite a few old-timers sitting at the local pub that look like hermit crabs
