we were having problems getting the flow correct for our Red Sea tank. we tried and tried to get it correct, but just could not figure it out after struggling and struggling we had the idea to take off the adjustment face for the flow and low and behold there was a bunch of gunk on the face scraped that off carefully due to the rubber on the inside, and the flow is back to normal. We think due to the gunk it was letting water slip by causing the seal to not be complete as it should be.

Red Sea suggests cleaning your gate valve every 3 months or so (mine was pretty bad after 2+ years).

makes sense considering we just hit three months we think cleaning it about once a month will be good for us the build up was A LOT!
