So, caught a great sale at a lfs. Bought a 75g and 30. Going to build a sump out of the 30. Need some words of wisdom on my build. The tank is not drilled. Would it be better to drill it or use a hob overflow? It's a marine land tank and since I didn't buy the stand the warranty isn't that great anyway so not worried about that. I have the aptitude to drill it or a local glass shop said they would for $10 a hole. Price wise I think it will be about a wash. If I drill it I will probably do a bean animal type. If I go hob it will probable be the eshoppes one. Are 2 returns needed on a 75 or is one enough? I plan on painting the back black. What paint is best for that? I am building my own stand and I will start that tomorrow. Hopefully I can start filling it in a couple weeks once I get some of these things figured out.

Welcome to R2R!! Head over to the "member tank" forum and start a build thread, it's a great way to get input. As far as the overflow goes I would drill or get the tank drilled without a doubt. The hang on overflows can be a pain and don't look as good. May as well do things "right" the first time instead of wishing you did. You can look at the gl*******s overflows they're pretty nice. For paint I normally use any black spray paint. Not sure why but I have personally had better success with "flat" black. Best of luck!

Congrats on the new tank.
+1 on starting a build thread for more input.
As for the drains I would have a second emergency drain for sure.
