I have 2 tequila sunrise Rhodactis mushrooms. I saw one of my hermit crabs in between the two, with a small bright green piece of coral lying on the sand bed below where the corals are located. I picked it up and placed it back with the other mushrooms.

I was wondering if the hermit was somehow responsible, or whether the mushroom somehow split? Either way, will this small piece be able to survive? (The hermit is well fed)

The mushrooms look fine and I can't see why a hermit would take an interest in it. It's possibly it grew another head that simply detached and floated down, but I can't tell if the bright green dot is a mushroom or simply a polyp from another coral.

Will it survive? If it's a new mushroom quite possibly. The best thing you could do for it (if it's a new mushroom) is to place it a mushroom cage with a frag plug.
