Okay, I have two hermit crabs, Blue (blue legged) and Grenade (red legged). Grenade has been always at the mercy of Blue. Tonight, I found that Blue has once again pulled Grenade out of his shell, for the second time today. I separated them and Grenade got back in to his shell. Blue is bigger than Grenade and has a bigger shell, so I don't think they're fighting over shell space. I also have some empty shells available to them to mix things up. I'd like to keep Grenade around, what can I do to help keep him safe? Thanks!

If they are to remain in the same tank I don't see how you can alter the belligerence of one to another - these things happen. However, if you don't take steps the next time it happens it could be when you are not around and Grenade may not be so lucky to survive

It is certainly survival of the fittest in there. I put Grenade in his "happy spot" (a crack in the rocks he hangs out in) and he made it through the night okay.

I wish I had a sump to dump Blue in to.

Usually, they get along just fine. It is just the 1% of the time that they do not it turns into something like gladiators in the Coliseum!
