I purchased a feather duster this evening and my hermit crab was all over him eating stuff that it was encased it. I had to put the crab in a breeding net. Has anyone experienced this?

That is a hermit for you. The hermit is probably just cleaning off algae and detritus but it can stress out other inverts and corals, hence the reason I do not keep mid to larger hermits.
