A hermit crab in my tank recently started staying in one spot and has a red bubble on its shell. I need help identifying this organism and finding out how to get my hermit crab back to normal. I have researched it and no results have came up. Let me know if you know what it is.

Thank you

(Sorry for any misspellings)

Welcome to R2R and thank you for the post. Is it possible that it is cyano?

Welcome to R2R!!! hard to tell from the pic.

In that pic it does look like some form of red leafy algae, although probably not cyano.
However if you can blow it off with a baster, it likely is cyano.

Here's something I found growing on a zoa frag one time.
Eventually grew into a sheet of tough thick red algae with a slimy texture.
Never did figure out exactly what species of algae it was.
