Hermit Crab Target Feeding?

One of my hermit crabs picked a new shell yesterday, but he chose on too big for him. He's lugging it around like a minivan hauling a motorhome XD so I was thinking of target-feeding him until he gets big enough to get around with it. What should I feed him? Do they prefer more in the way of salad or steak? I have a few different foods I might give him.
