I really want one for my tank and have read different information about them. Some say they are not reef safe and some say they are. Have any of you had any experience with these?

Some are, some aren't. If I were you, I would stick to something like scarlet leg hermits. Not only do they look pretty, but they're definitely reef safe. Some of the more decorative electric blue leg hermits are reef safe too, but I always have high mortality rates with those guys.

Definitely avoid larger hermits like the popular Halloween hermits. They are not reef safe.

This is what one can look like. They actually carry anemones on their shells.

*edit*
Ahhhhh....I get it now. Sorry, I completely misunderstood your question. I thought you wanted to know whether or not hermits could be safely housed in a tank that also houses anemones. I didn't realize there was a species of hermit that decorates its shell with small anemone. You want to know if that particular species of hermit is reef safe.

All my sources say no, those hermits are not reef safe. And if they say no, then somebody, somewhere, at some point, probably watched one take a bite of coral or fish.

I wouldn't risk it. They probably lose their anemones in captivity anyways. I know that Pom Pom crabs usually lose theirs after awhile.
