Hermit crabs and longnose hawkfish

What is the compatibility of hermits and longnose hawks? I heard that hawks will eat crabs and shrimp but if I keep the hawk fed will he still go after them? and also where I live there aren't usually any good detritivores in my LPS or any PS around me. I did see some serpent stars but I think they're a bit big for my 30 gallon tank. The only option for detritivores is usually hermits and unless there are any fish that eat detritus but I don't think i'll stock it tho.

oh and also will they eat snails? I think I have turban snails but they were sold to me as turbo snails.

I'm ABSOLUTELY no expert, but I have a long nosed hawk in a 29 gal biocube with a pajama cardinal, peppermint shrimp, snails and hermits. All have been together for around a year and seem to get along well.
