I noticed a thumbnail sized patch of what I believed to be bubble algae last night. I grabbed my siphon tubing and some tweezers to get it out this morning, but it was gone. In its place was a couple of my red legged hermits. Did I just get lucky, or is this a normal hermit behavior?

A lot of hermits will just about any kind of algae they come across. I prefer the larger thin stripe hermits as they have bigger appetites and will go after stuff tiney hermits like blue leg and scarlet are too small to be effective.
