Hermit feasting on new frag?

Can’t believe it, looks like I caught a hermit feasting on brand new frag. Time to pull that crab out. Hopefully saved it in time.

Is this common? If so, no more hermits for me

I’ve never had that, I’ve had them eat algae off the plug and the coral sometime.
But they’ve never done any harm.

He's just picking off algae. Normal.

More likely it was eating algae, debris, or a bit of dead tissue versus the coral itself.

What kind of hermit is it? thats a big ol claw. My scarlet and blue legs have little teeny tiny claws.

I saw that claw and I was like “Whoa! Mr. crab better not go rogue on my new Favia frag”

Didn’t trust it so it got pulled.

not sure what kind of crab it is, just got it from LFS

The claw looks like a Dwarf Zebra but they also have matching colored legs, not orange like that one. I’d sump it and see what it looks like when it’s a little bigger.
