Looks like a Thin Stripe Hermit Crab (Clibanarius); if so it should be reef safe... Crabs kind of do their own thing... In my experience, aside from blue and scarlet hermits, any of them could be harmful to corals or other inhabitants. My hallowe'en hermit was a model citizen until it reached a certain size; now it will kill other 'soft' inverts its size (conches, sea hares, etc). So until it is no longer with us, I cannot get other interesting inverts, like cucumbers, conches, etc...

I have had red legged, dwarf blue legged, electric blue, and emerald for experience. None of them have touched a coral. I like yours. Never seen a thin striped hermit.

Thanks. I was able to cross reference it with some other pics of a thin stripe hermit, I def think that is what it is. He is suppose to be reefsafe, it hasn't bothered any corals. It may have taken out a snail or two to take the shell. Thanks again for helping me with the id.

Yes, if you have hermits. Give them a selection of shells from a LFS that cleans the shells. Then they won't bother the snails. Spend a couple bucks on shells to avoid a loss of another crab or snail.
