Hello all,

My 35 gallon oceanic hex tank has started leaking water from under the trim frame on both sides of the front panel. I know the water is getting between the mitered angels of the trim were the glass lid sits. Water pools there from condensation under the glass lids. I want to try and use JB Water-weld to make the miter seam watertight. Do I have to drain my tank to use the Water-weld of just lower the water level until it hardens. Also, will the Water-weld adhere to the plastic trim? I assume since its epoxy it will hold very good.

Thanks for any and all comments.

Draining to an appropriate level would probably suffice. My concern would be if this will work as a permanent fix, or just a bandaid.

I tore down the 34 hex tank and placed the fish in an extra 20 something hex I had so I can fix my leak. Used freshly rinsed crush coral, cleaned diatoms off rock and switched out my hang on filter to a used eheim pro 4+, using the bio media from hang on in the canister filter with all new filter pads, carbon and new bio media to go with the old bio media. Used half the old water and half new RO water. Within 5 hours I lost both mocha gladiator clowns.

Checked water. Within .2 on PH. Ammonia .25, Nitrite and Nitrate are zero. Was using prime every 48 hours to detoxify ammonia durong cycle.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I am sick that these two beautiful fish suffered and died.... Up to switching tanks they were doing great.

I don't think there is a practical permanent way to seal that unfortunately.
Adding anything on top of silicone normally does not stick.
I would look for a different tank myself.
Sorry to hear fish loss.
