I've been on another forum, and wasn't quite to happy with the experience. This one however seems much more friendly and welcoming, so here I am!

I've been in the reef game for about seven years now. My first tank was a 29 gallon Biocube that saw its ups and downs, of which taught me many lessons during its seven year lifespan. Even though my yellow tang was healthy, a 29 gallon is simply not optimal for long-term sustainability lol. The cube was recently torn down due to a tank crash caused from unexpected construction in my house. I set up a new Innovative Marine 14 Peninsula a little over a month ago and transferred my remaining coral and some live rock over to seed it. 7 years worth of bacterial colony buildup on my rock allowed me to basically skip the cycle, despite using new, dry sand. So far, the little nano is shaping up incredibly well.

Here is the cube in its prime:
And here is the IM 14 currently:
Additionally, here's also a pic of the 14 (:

Thanks guys. Glad to be here and I hope you guys enjoy my little slice of the reef.

I love how you put macro algae in the DT. I do that too (not chaeto) and I believe it actually enhances the look of the tank

How do you get the red macro algae to do so well? Is it connected to anything?

Hey! Nope, I just have it wedged in the back. The flow is also going towards it, so it is gently being pushed against the back wall as well. Red macros tend to grow better in more intense lighting than green does in my experience. I've had an explosion of growth in my new tank from the clumps, which I think is mostly from the Kessil being closer to the surface but at the same intensity as before.

Welcome to R2R and thanks for joining. Good looking peninsula, but then again, I'm a sucker for them!
