Hello all Mike J here... been reading on this forum since forever before even setting up my first salt water tank. Figured I’d get an account and join the convos!
Started with fish care in a 55 gallon freshwater community tank and eventually decided to take the saltwater plunge.
So far so good. Running Rio + return pump from a 20 gal sump. Custom over the top overflow with Tom aqua lifter for siphon break protection. Running filter sock and Chemi pure blue. Got 40lbs black Hawaiian sand 40 lbs life rock.
Got two cheap power heads from amazon that run 880 flow a piece. So far so good(4months) and a couple back ups just in case. Picked up a marine led gen 1 for $40 bucks of someone to start getting some softies in and eventually gonna grab a few Kessils or the IC Pro (haven’t decided yet)
currently using a float switch dc pump setup for
Live Stock:
Bicolor Blenny
Purple Fire Fish
Two Ossys
Inverts:
Cleaner shrimp
Strawberry crab
Bubble tip anemone
Clean Up:
10 snails
10 blue leg hermits
MORE TO COME!
Coral:
Duncan
Orange Palys
Neon Green Star Polyps
So far the experience and education has been AMAZING with no casualties and just been slowly taking my time watching the ecosystem really build itself.
glad to be part of the forum! Can’t wait to learn much much more!
