Hey Guys I'd like your Opinion. Auto Filter Roller

This is a custom a roller filther created by a fellow reefer I personally know. He would like to be selling them around for $350.What are your thoughts?.He claims 1 filther roll can last about 4 months depending on your usage.The motor can be adjusted to your needs by a timer. Easily fits in a 50 gallon sump.

I believe the same job a filter sock does, but with disposable material that it automatically rolls to replace it self. When empty you replace the roll

It's like a filther paper comes in three different options. Heavy,Medium,and Light.He Said the light paper works fine for him.

@4FordFamily think of it as the lazy man's filter sock. The roll moves giving you fresh filter "paper" to filter your tank without having to pull out socks and clean them.

I guess so, The paper can just be replaced once its completely depleted.

Does it force water through the media or will it just allow water through at the flow rate already set.

It would most likely be placed below the drain,just like a filther sock;by flow I assume.

I kind a like the idea but I'm on the fence a little bit, filter socks when used and allow to dry before being washed have a fairly odiferous smell to them, and I'm being polite! In effect, the accumulated roll of waste material shouldn't be any different but at least you don't have to wash it. Just think how bad it will smell after being left for prolonged amount of time on the roll.

But that's really my only gripe about the design.

The Theiling Roller Mat is $399, this should go for less than half of that.

Some things to consider.
When does it advance the paper? (As in is it timer based or on how dirty the pad is like the theiling)
Does it have a lid?
Is there an emergency overflow if the pad gets full and the motor stops?

Yeah it has an emergency overflow its internal,timer based,and no lid.
