hey guys! just upgraded from my 25 to a 60 cube, tank looks AMAZING! def. bigger then what i have now.


as many of you may know. i was having trouble with my 25. just starting fresh now.

2x BRS 1.1ml dosers
Apex Jr w/ EB8
2x vortech mp10
6bulb fixture w/ ATI bulbs
MR1 short reactor with Biopellets
Bubble Magus BAC 3.5 Skimmer
Quietone 3000
CL200 Chiller
ATO float Switch w/ Aquatic lifter pump


I'm most likely going to be dosing vodka if im going all SPS, but if im going mix then biopellets + weekly water changes should do the trick

i got it from visio, its called turtle tank. 18x18x12 i believe?

omgosh, so today after cleaning up a bit i went to check on my rocks that were drying outside in the sun which was about 100 DEGREES! i looked at them. all of them were infested with ants. so much ants i could not see the rocks! so after soaking all the rocks in water, they still did not die, i had to use muratic acid AGAIN! soaked for about 30 minutes. emptied and refilled. when i got home after running errans the water was clean. i emptied out the water and about 10 more ants showed up, REALLY?! how do you kill these suckers. so now i have the rocks in 5g buckets with fully submerged water and capped off. do you think they will still survive?

Lol regular ants? good question though what kind of ants? Find the source of the problem.

yes regular ants, i found the source. killed them. but they're in the pours of the rocks. im soaking the rocks overnight with a lid. i thought ants couldnt swim!!

FTS!!

after about an hour of putting the rocks in, the skimmer was pulling out some nasty gunk. i need to go to my LFS and buy some ammonia test kit then seed it with some of my live rock in my QT.


could there be nitrates with ammonia ? or does it have to go through ammonia,nitrites, then nitrates. not that i have ammonia with nitrates just a general question
