Hey everyone,

I'm Tony and I'm new to the R2R and it was suggested to me to introduce myself. I will also add some pics of my tanks don't have many since I got a new phone

It all started about 6 years ago when I bought my first tank.... a 65 gallon hex. Up until yesterday this tank was still running Very healthy. I just finished my upgrade/ consolidation to a 125 gallon. Now the 65 will be my hospital tank. However moving on. I also have a ~260 gallon tank that houses two coral cat sharks and a Stars and Stripes puffer and a separate 40 gallon cube that houses a brown banded and a white spot bamboo shark (these guys eat like beasts) that are recently hatched and a very tiny grouper. They along with a few other smaller fish will be moving to the 125 until they grow big enough to go in the 260 that should be getting upgraded hopefully soon to a ~600 gallon (trying to weigh the cost difference between building and buying). I'm very passionate about saltwater fish (especially sharks and rays) and my hobby took flight until I basically took over my whole basement with tanks. Now I am trying to consolidate and organize to move to bigger and better tanks. So in total I have 4 tanks right now (well three considering I just shut the 65 down). Hopefully will be consolidated to two so I can work on my prep for the big upgrade that I hope to get started soon.

Here is my most recent project from start to (almost) finish

The hardest part is to get them to eat when they hatch. I've found if you have two together in a smaller tank they will see one eat and they will eat (that's why I have them in a 40g cube) and feed them a wider variety of foods (I use squid cut up in very small cubes, clams, krill, and pe mysis) and put a little garlic guard in they will eventually eat but you have to keep an eye on them and try to feed them every day until they eat. Now I feed them about 3-4 times a week. sharks need special vitamins also in their diet as well. But other than the feeding once you do get them to eat they are a dream pet. They are fun to watch eat but do plan on upgrading tanks in the future to something much bigger. Also they are VERY messy so also take that into consideration. You are going to need a BIG skimmer and change the filter socks/floss a lot. My tank right now is a 260 with the 40g cube plumbed in. The skimmer is rated for a 500-700 g. My two adult coral cats have the whole tank to themselves but even though that's the case they still need a bigger tank which is in the works.

Welcome to R2R, great intro Tony. I have found the costs from buying to DIYing is about the same. Buying one has it now without the time and DIYing one has exactly what they want and also the accomplishment of a self crafted project. I prefer the DIY, I like building things:)
