Someone recommended NARC to me, so I just posted in that forum, but I am from Jasper so B'ham is closer.
Long story short, I have been keeping freshwater for a couple of years and had a 180 gallon african cichlid tank. I started a 100 gallon saltwater tank about 6 months ago and fell in love with it, sold all the african's and more everything over to the 180. Got some more sand and rock and it's been running for about 2 weeks now.
I went a little overboard. I bought a lifereef skimmer off ebay (should be here on wednesday). I'm running my old skimmer for now, but only have 5 fish so bioload is not that bad. Got an apex lite controller. It's a PITA if you're not IP/tech literate but it's amazing. Got two metal halides off craigslist. 40 gallon breeder sump with chaeto algae and an ATO from autotopoff.com. I have a few corals in there now, but I'm waiting on a BRS 2 part dosing kit to come along with Red sea calcium/alk/mag test kit.
I'd like to be able to learn some and check out other tanks. I don't know what to do to become a member, but I would love to join!
