Hey new to Reefing

Hey I'm working on starting a 140 red reef peninsula 650. I'm also working on some aquaculture with phytoplankton, Rotifer, copepods, brine shrimp, and mysis shrimp. I'm getting the Neptune Apex dream bundle to automate the whole thing.

I'm getting the bulk of the equipment from BRS and some live stock from WWC, Unique, and Austin.

I have done a lot of research and I for sure want to base this tank off of 2 Dragonets. One Green Mandarin and one Ruby Red. The problem is I can't seem to find a reputable fish store who carry both. I'm also looking for a red emerald crab(ruby) and a blue porcelain crab.

Does anyone have any advice for reputable online fish stores? I have a lot for Coral but coming up short for fish and invertebrates.

It will be my first saltwater tank. I started with aquatic turtles.

Welcome to R2R, remember to take it slow, it won't happen overnight. Especially when you're considering getting dragonets.

Welcome. As stated above, make sure your tank is stable and mature before getting dragonets. Now, Biota does breed the mandarins, so that is a good source. Not sure the ruby reds are yet captive bred. Good luck! Go slow!

Welcome to reef2reef! I would say keep an eye on biota like stated above and my best guess would be to find a reputable LFS and ask if they can order them for you. Most stores should be able to custom order for you if it is available. Good luck and best advice is don’t rush it!

Thanks to all of you. I promise to take my time with this. I want to be sure not just the tank is ready but I am also ready for the Dragonets. I do know they really only like Copepods to eat. Which is why I'm going to have 3 separate cultures. One in the display, one in the refugium, and one separate from the main system as a backup. I'm hoping these dragonets are fat and happy .
