After you dose vinegar, how long does it usually take for your ph to go back to normal

Depends on the extent of aeration and how fast it is metabolized in your tank. Hours, I expect, but I've not monitored it since I spread out the dosing.

You can add calcium hydroxide into the vinegar so there is no reduction. :)

Randy, how much kalk would need to be added to the vinegar to reduce the pH effect?
Thanks

Thanks

When I dosed that way (manually, all at once), I added an excess so there was substantial excess solids sitting on the bottom.

The clear liquid then will have a small pH raising effect (not enough to really notice), which partly offsets the later pH lowering effect of the production of CO2, and it will boost calcium and alkalinity a small amount. :)
