My name is Zack, I live in a suburb of Fort Worth, TX. I've got a wife, 3 lovely kids (4 years, 2 years, and 3 months), and a love of fish.
I've been in the aquarium hobby for about 15 years now (wow... doesn't seem like it's been that long...), but I've always been on the freshwater side of things. I started with the 2 gallon Betta tank with plastic plants and a plastic bridge that everyone starts with, and never looked back. My favorite tanks were, of course, planted tanks. I did everything from an Asian Biotope that had Gouramis, White Clouds, and Coris, high tech planted tanks, low tech planted tanks, etc... I had a low tech planted Betta tank as a counter piece in my kitchen for a long time... I had to do something cool with that Eclipse System I started with after all...
For various reasons, my tank count slowly dwindled (I did a lot of moving around for a few years, and that makes it REALLY hard to keep those tanks going...), and I am now in reboot mode, and I have decided that I want to make the switch to reefing! My first project will be a 120 gallon mixed reef tank that I will be building for the next several months. I expect to ask a lot of questions, and offer what expertise my 15 years in the freshwater side of the hobby brings here. Looking forward to being a part of the reefing community at large, and specifically, R2R!
