So I am new to R2R, but have been doing saltwater tanks for a little over a year now. I live in VA I got my first saltwater tank like I said a little over a year ago. It was a 30 gallon half moon. Just a basic FOWLR tank with HOB filter. Then earlier this year i got a great deal on a 90 gallon reef tank. I have done pretty good with the coral but not the fish. Even after QT i have had several Ick outbreaks. I now QT longer and do a small cupermine treatment. My tank is full of Zoanthid, Palythoas, Frogspawn, Mushrooms, and acans. I also have a few frags of birdsnest, a blasto, hydnophora, bonsai acro, among other things. I have had healthy fish (orange stripped tang, 3 Clarkii Clowns) back in the tank and in two weeks will be adding a Lamark's Angel.
I am running a 20L sump (will be changed to larger soon). It contains Eshopps PSK-100 Skimmer, fuge, and Mag12 return pump. It is hard plumbed and has branch-off for phosban reactor running biopellets and branch-off for a UV setrilizer. Tank contains rotating wave maker on return nozzle branch, two Hydor Koralia Evo Pumps running off of an ocean pulse wave maker. Lighting consists of 2 Maxspect R420R 16K 20" Lights.
We kept the 30 for a while until my wife's lionfish got too big for it. So she decided she wanted a larger tank vice getting rid of the Lion. So we got her a 90 gallon driller tank. It is running a Wet/Dry sump with a sicce 2.0 return pump (will be upgrading soon). It also contains a Coralife 125 Protein Skimmer. She has one Sicce voyager 4 circ pump and she is running a Marineland reef capable 48" LED fixture. Her tank is also hard plumbed.
I just got my hands on a BRS 75GPD 6 stage RO/DI. It has saved me so much money in the 1 1/2 months I have haved it. I have not had to go to the LFS to get water. It was $15 ever 1 to 2 weeks just for water. And that was just for top off water.
Sorry that was long but i hope to gain a lot of information from this forum.
