HHH's 100 Gallon Mixed Reef

Added a CBB and I hope it makes it. My trio of tangs haven’t given it the warmest of receptions. Mainly the scopas is keeping it over in a corner but it has progressed from top corner to basically the side of the tank by the anemone. It has actually eaten the Aiptasia that was on that side but it still swims up towards the power head when the powder brown or scopas comes around. Hopefully tomorrow it will progress even more.

My tangs tried to kill my CBB when I added it. I did the mirror trick and it worked wonders on allowing my CBB to settle in.

Well the Copperband has been given tentative access to half of the tank with the Scopas being the only tang that is showing aggression. Yesterday afternoon and this morning, the Copperband ate mysis so that is a good sign I think. It has also eaten all Aiptasia on the half of the tank it’s been allowed to explore.

In other news, my tank has not transitioned well from kalk to 2 part. I will lose a few acros and my montis are pretty beat up. I am unsure if a change in PH has caused it or if it’s fallout from spiking alk a bit.

Basically just crossing fingers and leaving it alone in hopes that now that I have it stable again, things will recover.

That’s good new about the CBB!

What’s the ph difference now after switching?

I added my CBB a few months ago and one of my tangs bullied him a little. Now everyone is family! LOL!

Breakthrough day for the CBB. Has taken PE Mysis and Reef Frenzy at every meal and the tangs have let it travel 3/4 of the tank regularly now.

Just watched it pluck an Aiptasia from a zoa garden.

What a cool fish. Really hope it settles in fully.

My tank is pretty rough right now. The transition to 2 part as well as me badly over feeding to get the butterfly to eat has caused my parameters to get pretty bad and I think that it playing a part.

My nitrates are between 25-50 and my phosphate tested .55 with Hanna.

Planning to slowly bring that down and hope that most everything will recover over time. This is a hobby of setbacks if you are me lol.

I haven't checked on your progress in awhile, so just now got caught up. I think I have the same affliction as you do. "a hobby of setbacks". Just when you think things are rolling along, something new crops up to set you back and tell you "uh uh, not so fast!".

I hope the CBB settles in for you. I picked one up a few months ago from someone tearing a tank down and it eats frozen so forcefully I can hear his jaw snapping at the food. Pretty neat, I didn't know that happened with them.

What tangs besides the Scopas do you have in there these days? I've only got one tang (blue hippo) in my 150g and debating adding another but not sure if I should or not.

Plain instant ocean.
That’s what I have been using too. Natural instinct if you are me is to start blaming the salt lol.
