Scored a chunk of rainbow monti for real cheap yesterday that was in the frag bargain bin. I dont think they knew what it was. As i am trying to find a spot for it, i realize i dont really have room for much else. No way I can get a bigger tank now that we just have a small child. I like my corals grown out like they are so I dont want to chop stuff up for more room yet.

What do you guys do when you run out of space? Be happy and let it keep growing?

Wanted to post some pics of some new corals I got so I can look back on them and see the change. One is a montipora that was in the bargain bin. I believe it is a rainbow and will color up nicely so I snagged it. The ricordia was from a trade for some birdsnest and purple cap from a member of this site and the poopy acro frag I also believe will color up nicely. It was a freebie from sb reefs. I also added a flame angel. The Kole didn't like it at first but we are 3 days in and seem to be doing ok now.

Nice pick ups. That's does appear to be a rainbow monti. One of my favorite entrusting montis. Unfortunately mine isn't doing to hot. Best of luck with them!

Lots of changes. We are planning to move across town on the 3rd of march and I wanted to get rid of all rocks that had any palys on them. These rocks were of course, the lower sections of my rockwork foundation but since the tank was getting broken down for the move, I went ahead and tore up my Reef and sold the rocks with the palys and the pieces of broken up caps and Digi and birdsnest.

I ultimately made enough money to buy a new Coral Box D500 skimmer which I installed tonight. I had been running a broken Kent skimmer that came with my old 56 when I got it off craigslist. I am hoping this one performs well. Construction alone seems way better than the Kent. Plus the footprint is way smaller and I hated how crammed my sump seemed.

A couple weeks ago, I added a marinepure block in anticipation of losing the rocks in the display the palys were on. I plan to have a more minimalist look in the redo after the move. I also switched out my cfl bulb on my scrubber for one of the red and a couple blue led bulbs. We shall see how that goes.

Don't know if anyone actually reads this but if you do, thanks for stopping by and wish me luck on the upcoming move.

I have fallen victim to the hitchhiker crab. I saw a small red crab come in on some rock I got from a guy on craigslist and didnt worry too much about it. This was a couple months ago. Here recently, I have been seeing it and its maybe 3" across and looks super mean. I think its a stone crab. I have been seeing snail shells laying on the bottom of the tank with the tops missing. I thought maybe the shells were just brittle and over time they dissolved. Until I saw the crab last night carrying one around. I sat and watched it crush the top of the shell and eat the snail. I looked more closely under rocks and on the bottom there are crushed up shells all over the place.

Pulling out rocks this weekend to hopefully get him before he takes a fish.

Well here she is all in disarray, waiting for the move. My anemone split and I won some eBay auctions from WWC so I have some new frags waiting for the move too.
Seeing lots of potential from the freebie I got from SB reefs. It's on the middle of the rack. The WWC corals will be pretty sweet too.

Well, the move is complete but the tank is still not up yet. I should be able to start putting stuff back in first thing after coffee.

I have for sure taken some losses during the move. Lost a few of the frags I just got from WWC and for sure a pink birdsnest colony. Not sure what else will be dead by morning but hopefully not much.

I gave my nipping flame angel back to the store and gave away my locally caught gobies and Blennies. I now just have 2 clowns, a Kole tang and a six line wrasse.

Will post a pic soon once I get everything set back up.
