Hello everybody! I’ve been an aquarist since I could remember, but out of the reefing hobby for nearly a decade. My tank crashed when a heat wave hit and it really bummed me out. I had my first nano tank with macro algae before nano tanks and algae scrubbers were a thing. That 2.5 gallon was quickly upgraded to a 10 gallon, then to a 40 breeder with a 20 sump. I had just moved everything to a 55, when the heat wave hit.

Looking to get back into the hobby and excited at all the new progress being made in both knowledge, equipment, and aquaculture.

I lost a reef in 2008 when our AC went out and we were in Florida on vacation

Really took the wind out of me and have been running an chiller as a back up ever since.

Thanks guys! I’m really interested in the Apex system. Looks like it could provide a helping hand and make things a lot easier (and more consistent!). Maybe help prevent or warn of an impending overheat situation. I think this time I will have my tank downstairs, which stays cool all year round, never getting higher than 75 or 76, or lower than 62-63. (Also, moving from a hot and humid state to one that had a more mild climate might help!)
