Hi CA, low dkh

I just got a redsea test kit and I ran the CA, dkh and MG tests. The MG was spot on at 1320, but dkh was 6.8 and CA was around 750 (off the charts). I did a WC last weekend, but I never expected my CA to be that high, I am not dosing. Want to know if I can dose part B for dkh and just leave out the part A and if high CA is an issue I need to do something about.

IMO I would do another check of parameters if still high do a w/c. If your are worried about high Ca numbers. Wait an hour or so and see what your parameters are after. What 2-part are you dosing?

I haven't started dosing. Just got everything so I could get ready for lps and sps corals. I am using the sea labs #28 blocks. Wonder if they are they source?

yes you can dose alk independent of Ca, and just let Ca fall. IIRC, it takes 2.5+ dkh (???) or so of alk utilization to have CA fall 20 ppm or something like that.

The calcium is likely a test error. Verify it before doing anything else.

They may be, but I doubt it. You would need to have added many. Stop using them, though. They are not a good product for a reef tank.

2 days ago I screwed up a dosing change and dosed 200 ml of Triton B in a few hours. My set dose is like 4ml a day. Anyway, my CA is now 570.

Things look fine though and slowly trying to bring it down. I'm learning to not panic if the tank looks good.

Doesn't CA precipitate when overdosed? But I have no idea what else may be in Triton B.

Anyway, I feel your pain
