Just dropping in to say Hello! Only about 2 months into reefing and I have lots of questions.
One of the first ones is I just got a second clownfish and my original clown (Truman) is being a complete jerk to him. Should I be concerned that my new guy won’t make it the night?
Talk soon I’m sure!

Welcome to reef2reef! We are glad to have you here!

It depends on the situation.

Clowns are all born male, and then the bigger or more aggressive one becomes female.

Most likely, it's showing aggression to show dominance, but it really depends on how severe the aggression is, so more detail would help.

Thanks! I’m excited to be reefing! Hes basically doing swim-bys. Lol. Getting a good run on the new guy and bumping up against him. The new guy was able to eat so I think that might be a good sign.
Here’s a video of it.

It’s clown hierarchy in which the female is often the aggressor and will chase others, steal the food and even claim the tank real estate
May require temporary isolation of the aggressor

Hello and Welcome to R2R! I had the same situation and had to remove my original clown as he not only bullied and killed the new clown but bullied other fish that died. He now sits in my QT
Will he be there forever or is he just in a really long time out?

Hi Welcome to R2R. CT. here also. Keep an eye on the clowns if one gets overly aggressive you may have to remove it for a few days. iIf you have a sump you cant keep it in there.
Don’t laugh but what is a sump? I have a small tank 13.5 Evo. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t have one.

No worries!

Your tank does not have a sump.
