Here are some pictures of my tank build:
I wanted a tank that is 18" wide, 18" deep, and 72" long. That way it will fit in just about any room, and I can reach any part of the tank without having to wear a scuba mask!
Fiji Cube built the tank. I took this picture while picking it up in Minneapolis.
I recycled an old aquarium stand and made it taller. I wanted the tank to be as tall as possible, but so that I could still reach into the tank without having to stand on anything. So, the top of the tank comes right up to my armpit with the stand at this height.
Here's the tank when I got it home. The low lead glass is alright, but still not as good as my old acrylic tank. However, think its worth it because the glass is so much easier to keep clean!!! You can just scrape at it and not have to worry about scratches.
I plumbed it up with a Bean Animal overflow rig... which I love. Its normally nice and quiet!
Here is the original rock work I put in it. I wanted black substrate, black background, and black bottom so that my corals would really stand out. I think it was a nice idea... but in reality the bottom of the tank and rocks get covered in coraline and other junk anyways. I'm kind of lazy and don't clean the back of my tank much.
The "bonsai style" rock work was beautiful at first, but over time it was too delicate and ended up breaking apart. Leaving me with my current crappy rock work which hopefully will get a makeover this month!
