Hello I'm new to both r2r and the saltwater world of this hobby. I'm just starting up my first saltwater tank and it's been cycling for about two months now just added some snails and crabs last week to help with what I believe to be diatoms so far their doing the job, I'm going to put in a few more pieces of live rock before I slowly introduce any fish patience patience patience!

Hi welcome to R2R! You'l like it here! A great way to test if your tank Is ready is some blue/green Chromis, they're fairly cheap (around $3 a piece) and will let you know if the tanks ready. Then later along the line when you think your ready for corals start out with a cheap zoa frag! Can tell a lot about your tank by how they react! Youl enjoy saltwater tanks for sure!

Welcome to R2R!

Thanks for the warm welcome everybody, so I have a issue with some brown algae/bacteria that's growing on rocks, sand, glass and I'm not sure what it is or if it's just part of my tanks cycle Or to much light What I do know is its editable by my snails and hermit crabs cause their eating it off slowly but it's of course the glass that bothers me I'll post some pics of it tomorrow and I have a question about lights I'm using a 10,000k and a 420 antic I believe but my question is should I have both on throughout the day or just the 10,000k .
