Hi from seattle

Welcome to R2R!

Just started reefing a year ago. Started big by taking over a 230gal which had its bottom seal go after 2 months. Downsized to a 130gal with a synergy overflow. Moving the 130 was so easy with 2 people. 4 guys on the 230 was one of the hardest things to move.

Everyone says to start with fish only but i got the itch when i saw corals. Lots learned along the way and lots more to learn.

Welcome! Glad you joined. Moving my 180 gallon I hired LFS which had specialized carts that raised and lowered. Two scrawny young guys moved it carefully and we got to sit at a picnic table joking "this must be how the other half lives ... and we LOVE it LOL" Seriously though, their carts meant less strain on the tank during relocation, so even though it is an older tank I'm hopeful it remains sealed for many more years.

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID). I can't imagine what you went thru when the 230 began leaking - but it seems you must have lots of BBA - Bounce Back Ability - which is great for this hobby and wonderful life skill. Looking forward to hearing more about your new tank! You can post over in Forum > Member Aquariums for build threads.

This is a good reference book type online article I still review:
