Hi, I'm new here.

Hi everyone, my name is Amanda! Located in San Diego, CA for the next 3 years. Diving is a big passion of mine and I recently started working with marine wildlife. I've decided i want to bring a little piece of what I love so much home with me.

I am a complete beginner and looking to start a build over the next few months. I have an idea of what I'd like to create in my future build, but before I make any purchases I'd like to do as much research as possible. I am open to any and all recommendations and resources. I'm currently reading Martin A. Moe Jr.'s Marine Aquarium Handbook and watching My First Fish Tank on YouTube.

I'm looking forward to meeting and chatting with you all!

No Troubles, Just Bubbles.

Welcome! I love to dive as well. One day I hope to live near the sea, but so far I’m still land locked.

When you get ready to start your build, create a thread so we can follow along.

You may want to take a look at BRSTv 52 weeks of reefing. They also have a great cycling video.

So Greetings and Welcime to out collective obsession!

Welcome! I have a friend that lives in Bay Park which I think is not far from you. San Diego is my favorite place to go on the mainland as I live on the east coast.

I'd just suggest to get as much water volume as you can afford/have the time to care for. Nano tanks probably need the most care but I always tell people that 40g and up is a good starting point. Also, I would suggest having your display tank reef ready and include a sump below. It hides all your equipment and gives you extra water volume.
