I've seen this forum mentioned on other websites, but this is my first day here. Well, second day now, I suppose. It's late...or is it early??

My name's Amanda. I have a 220g softie dominated mixed reef, a 29g Biocube, a 54g corner tank that I'm getting ready to convert to salt. It was a freshwater planted tank that I lost interest in. I'm thinking of doing oddball fish in it.

My other passion is drag racing. I'm also a huge dog fan. I like most dogs better than most people. ;)

I love Zoas, and it seems this is the place to find and discuss nice Zoanthids.

So, HI!! Nice to meet you all! :)

WELCOME! Wow a 220g tank, i would love to see pics when your ready to share.

Certainly! edit......I'll just copy/paste what I just posted elsewhere:

Nothing fancy. It's 72x24x30H. I'm currently running 3 x 250w MH with 20k Radiums. So far, I'm loving the blue! I have an approximately 40g sump, single sock filter, AquaC EV400 Skimmer, Eheim 1262 return pump, two TLF Phosban reactors.

I'm seriously considering a major overhaul over the summer. It will take a good month or two. I'm thinking of removing all the rock and coral, selling most of my Tangs, and putting the rock, corals, and remaining fish in a holding tank. Then I might add more sand for a Deep Sand Bed. This is two fold...the nitrate reducing benefits of a DSB, plus I'll essentially cut my tank shorter. Then I will rescape, which I will be doing no matter what I decide...that's the biggest reason for this overhaul. At that point, I'll decide if I want to finally try an SPS tank.

This is only if I decide to keep this tank and not upgrade to an 8' tank or a 300g Marineland.

Here's some progression pictures.

And the tank is NOT this blue. I couldn't get the white balance quite right...this is April 30, 2009

Welcome to R2R!

Radiums play havoc with WB, I have to set it manually in post process myself.

Welcome. Nice, clean site. Think you will find most everyone here are friendly and helpful. Enjoy.
Sweet set-up.

Amanda,

Welcome, I believe that you will love it here, very friendly and flames free. I have really enjoyed it. Excited for another Zoa fan!!

Your tank looks great, I love the Radium bulbs, they bring wonderful color to the tank and bring out nice colors in the inhabitants.

Good. Now, everyone send me a few frags of their prized Zoas, and I will be happy to discuss them.
