Hi, my name is Brandin, but you can call me boogie or Jigglets doesn't matter, I just find those to be funny words.
Well i've always wanted a saltwater tank as I live in the midwest but have a deep craving for the ocean. So after years of talking myself out of it (and my gf). I finally decided to take the plunge.
So after deciding on really the only place in my house the tank could go I went with a 55g. I've already made tons of newbie mistakes but its part of learning. like to start I went with all dead rock and sand as to start nice and fresh, and after doing some research looked like ATM colony and a firefish would be a great way to instantly start up a tank. Initally it seemed like the product worked like everyone had said so I added a pair of clowns.. and welp been adding ammolock and doing water changes daily for weeks now with minimal signs of and end to the ammonia. but I know it'll come. since these pictures i've also added a power head, Velcro'd the power strip to the wall and tied the power plugs together to avoid water getting where it shouldn't, and i've also added a seachem tidal filter.. omg that thing is amazing, I did modify the contents of it a lil with more seachem matrix and 2 polishing pads, but the thing works like a charm. Any suggestions are definitely welcome, my end game for this tank is some soft corrals, with basically the fish i have now, and 2 seahorses, hopefully the tank will be ready for those guys next year!

Welcome, love the mandarin. I would love to get one, but I hear there hard to keep.

Welcome to R2R!!!
I don't know if your dragonet eats prepared food but if not start adding pods so it doesn't starve.another thing I would do is get rid of the polishing pads and add more matrix

Thanks! Yea I did some research and you definitely want to be choosy at the fish store, to find a nice hearty one. I got very lucky as mine eats frozen brine shrimp with no issues. But I'll be adding copepods regularly to be safe

Thanks for the advice i'll definitely be seeding some copepods to my tank regularly as they will be great for basically everything including the seahorses i want to get next year, going to look into doing mabey a hob refugium, for a safe place for them to keep their numbers up so I do not have to add them as often as I do not have space for a sump, not sure if that will work?
