Hi everyone, I have just returned from the aquatics shop where I purchased a Red Sea Reefer 250 and most of the associated bits. Can't wait for it to arrive so I can get started. One thing though, It would appear that my electrical socket will be inside the cabinet at the cutaway section and so will be subject to the humid atmosphere of the cabinet. Has this been a problem to anyone? Does anyone have a good idea for making the socket at least a bit more waterproof?

Welcome :) :) !! Sorry, not an electrician but I agree with using an outdoor outlet.....I have them all over the outside of my house in direct rain. You could also use a GFI outlet. I have used these under my cabinet in the past with no issues.

Yo yo rmc, Welcome!
Glad to see you picked up the salty bug. Also encouraging to see you looking at possible issues and safety concerns. Absolutely instal a GCFI receptacle. That would be the best improvement for safety. Unless there is a high risk of water actually getting splashed on the outlet, an exterior rated receptacle wouldn’t offer much more in reliability or longevity. I’m not an electrician, but I am a residential carpenter so take my opinion as you will. Start a build thread an show us the project. Good luck with the setup.
