Hi, Im just doing as suggested in the welcome message and saying hello.

I recently started my first reef back in July after doing a lot of research, and what started as an idea for a low budget softie/Lps tank developed into a full blown mixed reef, with plenty of sps, and more on the way.

Equipment consists of
IM nuvo 10
IM mighty jet 326gph return pump with random flow generator.
AI prime HD
Intank media basket running floss and chemipure blue.
Neotherm heater
Ice cap ato(about to start running kalk)

Heres a recent pic.

Welcome to the club!!!

How do you like the mighty jet? Also the smart ATO?

I'm looking for a possible upgrade to my stock Nuvo 25 pump, and I'm also looking for a cheaper option than the Tunze 3155 for a frag tank top off

I like them both a lot. I knew I wanted to upgrade the return pump to something powerful enough that I could get away without additional powerheads in the display, while running a random flow generator.

The mighty jet won out due to a number of reasons... It offered the 30x turnover I was looking for a mixed reef, it's gph just happened to fall in the random flow generators optimum range, it has a feed mode and controlability, and it fit. Its also very quiet.

The ice cap ato was the best value imo, a dual optical sensor system for 120 bucks.

Thats something I'm toying with right now. I have the stock return in my Nuvo 25 but also have an MP10 on hand or an IceCap Gyre 1K. I think I'll leave the return and use the external power head.

The IceCap really seems like an awesome value for one of the cheaper ATO options and the sensor seems compact as well. Fitting the Tunze sensor and float switch into the return chamber was a chore.
