hi... new to saltwater

Hello all..
Im Amber from Ohio and am very excited (and nervous) about starting into salt water . I have had little fresh water tanks most of my adult life with varying degrees of success but 2 years ago I got serious and bought a 75 gallon tank in order to have a cichlid tank.....I LOVE color!!!!!. Well I had a few ut ohs but overall its been pretty successful. I have a Bala shark in the tank that is now about 9 inches and very unhappy in his cramped home. So after trying unsuccessfully to find him a home in a bigger tank I decided to buy the 120 gallon tank for my cichlids and him and convert my 75 tank to salt

. I hope to get the tank next week...set it up and cycle for 2 weeks then transfer fish in. Then the fun begins

Ive been doing a LOT of reading and you tube watching plus I have a LFS specializing in salt around the corner from house, so I think ill be ok. But be sure I will be asking many questions

Welcome to reefing, you are cycling your freshwater tank for 2 weeks? Saltwater works a little bit different I guess, the cycle happens when it happens. You start your tank text for ammonia and nitrates, then wait. Wait for the spike and then the fall. You can artificially jump start the cycle by add oh ng in something like a 1/4 shrimp from the supermarket in a media bag and let it decompose in there for a few days pull it before it becomes to mushy or you see your levels have risen.
