Hi there my name is Keagan I have been in this hobby for a long time like 5 years but I just got back into it as of September.

I have forgot some information so I was wondering if I can get some help.

I set up a Red Sea max Nano in September.

My filtration I have a algae scrubber, Protein skimmer and filter floss.

I have had nothing in the system until 2 days ago I added Copepods.

My issue right now is that I’ve had the tank running for 65 days I think no ammonia or anything toxic like that. But I have all of this algae that I don’t know what it is. Can someone help me and tell me what I should do next please?
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and have an amazing

Also I included pictures of my scrubber and pics of my tank at night and day.

I wouldn't worry about the algae, that's normal new tank stuff. Did you use dry or live rock? Also I wouldn't worry about going overkill with filtration since you don't really have a bioload yet

Also I'd be careful saying 5 years is a long time. You'll get some old fogies on here telling you about 60 yrs ago when they used to walk to school 10 miles uphill both ways in the 100 degree heat with 10" of snow on the ground ;)

I’ve been in it 5 years but I wasn’t really active in it it was more like I had a pet clown fish and a couple of softies then I went on a missions trip so I kinda forgot about new set ups and ect.

I went dry however back in June I did cure my live rock in a trash can with the lights off and I added a piece of raw tuna. And I let it sit in there for 6 months and didn’t touch anything.

then in August I took it all out cleaned my nano tank and I let the rock sit out dry for a month then by September 29 I put saltwater on it again!

so do I wait for another month until I add some fish I want to get lots of corals in before fish but I’m not sure if that’s a good thing.

This is my photo here it’s the only one I have of me doing the process.

I'd say if your water is testing ok it's time for a fish and a cheap tester coral (assuming you have lighting that can support coral). Oh and welcome to the club!

Okay thank you I have a bulk reef supply RODI system still new but I’ve been going to the Grocery store still because for me it’s a bit more convenient since I have a small tank at the moment.

:)

Pics show diatoms and cyano
Check your phosphate, nitrate and ph for elevated levels
Are you using RODI water or tap water from the faucet ?
Reduce white light intensity and add cleaners snails
Nassarius and trochus would be good to start with
