I am new here, and just getting back in to this after many years . I am wondering if anyone has or know of a RR 75 or 90 gallon tank or sale. Any help is much appreciated!! And by the way , I think it is awesome that there are so many other enthusiasts here helping newbies like me !!!

Hi welcome to the site. This is a really cool forum to be on. Every one on here has really help me out a lot whenever I have a question, no matter how dumb it might sound.

:welcome: Glad you found us. There's a lot of helpful people on this forum. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

Hey there !!! Maybe you could tell me advantages/disadvantages comparing side drilled tanks vs bottom drilled .

The side drilled tank allows you to place your overflow box at the top and not take up any real estate on the bottom. Also, some tanks have tempered glass on the bottom that can't be drilled.

To make adjustments or do maintance or cleaning on a side drilled tank you don't have to empty the tank?

If your tank is not currently drilled you could make "mad scientists" diy pvc HOB overflows.

You may want to research "bean animal" and "Herbie" methods. It's really cool how you can silence the overflow of a side drilled tank using these methods. I have a dual lifereef overflow that is totally silent on my 75 using the Herbie method on one downspout, using the second as backup/emergency.
I've yet to be able to silence my RR 120 even with durso standpipes. Luckily, it's not too loud.

Hope that helps.

I drilled mine and made an overflow box out of glass.
Glass hole saw, glass, bulkheads and silicone about $60 + slightly used 75g non-RR tank $75 =
Reef Ready tankwith silent overflow.
