Welcome to Reef2Reef!!! You may find this R2R article helpful:

Hi! I’m Hannah, I’m getting a used 75 gal saltwater set up tomorrow and I’m VERY excited about it. This will be my first saltwater tank, and the biggest tank I’ve ever owned! Please give me all the advice! I’ve been doing loads of research but info from individuals who know what they’re doing is so much more valuable!

Hello and welcome to the club!

It is difficult to provide advice without knowing what your specific goals are, so I will provide some general tips:

1. A 75 gallon tank is a good place to start for your first salt water tank. Stability is our friend, and big water volume means smaller fluctuations in water chemistry.

2. Will this tank be fish only or do you plan on a full reef tank with corals?

3. Please provide more details about the tank:
- Is it already drilled for oveflows?
- Does it have a sump?
- What lights (if any) come with the tank?

How you build your tank and the recommendations you receive will be based on WHAT you want to keep. Have you given any thought about which fish and corals you want?
