That's Caulerpa and it's best to just pull it off.

EDIT: Sorry, totally missed the title. I had a hidden clam in a tubastrea before. I would leave it be. Sometimes the polyps grow over the clam, or impedes its closure and sometimes the polyps take the hit and never grow around that area. It'll be cool to see how it turns out!

With it's mouth closed. You don't even know it's there. I think it's totally cool.

Lionfish what kind of polyps or coral are those yellow/orange ones? Those are awesome man!

They are tubastrea. Sun coral. You have to actively feed them and that's what's up with the green soda bottle and marbles in the first picture.

Ohhh so you can't just feed them mysis whenever you want they have to constantly have a food source?

Thanks for responding I love learning new things and especially learning about new coral!

No, you can feed them mysis whenever you would like. I fed mine when I fed the fish. At the time it was believed that every single mouth had to be fed and that's where my bent rigid tubing came in. I used it attached to some flexible airline tubing and a 60cc syringe filled with mysis. I don't think I believe that so much anymore. They have no zooxanthellae, and for the most part belong tucked away in a cave. I would use the feeding cap for just generally spraying something like fish eggs over the entire colony and it also kept the foxface out of the food. I removed it after 30 mins.

Awesome! That's sort of like my Duncans! I've gotta have some now! Hehe

Awesome! Thank you very much! That's my next purchase lol

Lionfish, got me a two polyp sun coral frag today lol it was the only one st the LFS and he gave it to me for 10 bucks cause he said it's going to die cause he won't feed it lol

That's actually not a sun coral like mine, as the skeleton is different. Yours could be a different species of Tubastrea or even a Dendrophyllia.

And an LFS who doesn't want to feed their product? Wow. That's not a place I would buy from because he evidently doesn't care about the animals.

Awe snap! Well darn! I'll have to find another place with one similarly to yours and attempt to keep this one alive! Haha! And yeah sucks not many good stores here locally.
