I have had my 20 gallon cube running for about 7 months now, and I have been having really bad hair algae, and now I have cyano coming back. Anytime I test it, the nitrates and phosphates read 0. I was wondering if it was possible that the nitrates and/or phosphates are kinda high but the algae is consuming it so the tests are reading 0. Should I start running GFO in it?

Don’t trust api for low range nitrates. Grab salifert or Red Sea. The gha is most likely consuming phosphates down to zero. Do you have coral in the tank? If you don’t, gfo would be a good solution to starve off the gha. If you do have coral the gfo will be a death sentence for the coral if PO4 is reading 0 on a Hanna.
