Good morning everyone, any idea why my royal gramma keeps hiding? He found this little hole and has been in there for the past 2 days since I put him in. He is new to the tank. I have a diamond goby, 2 clowns and a damsel. Parameters are all within normal limits and he was drip acclimated. Everyone is eating , including him.

It took mine a week or 2 before he came out from seclusion. As long as he is eating you're good.

Some hide most of the time, mine hide for the first few days, then came out, then decided he doesn’t like the lights so hides when they come on, now he hides even when they are off.

I think some are just very skittish, my advice is to not do anything with the tank for as long as possible, no water changes, moving stuff until he builds up his confidence then he may come out a lot more, some do.

As others have mentioned, it is normal for a new fish to do this. My gramma always goes inside his/her same hide every time so expect that to be its new favorite hole. Beautiful fish and you will enjoy it for sure.

They frequent caves and crevices in their natural Caribbean environment
