so I've been manually dosing for months and finally decided to build a DIY dosing system. Figured my consumption and set pumps(Alk/Ca) to run 3X a day an hour apart. First day of use Alk shot up to 11 and despite totally removing drip tubing from sump after turning off pumps with Apex control and then no change thought maybe program glitched and ran pumps anyway so UNPLUGGED both...STILL no drop so thought MAYBE gravity or siphon. Checking every 12hrs for past 3 days and still 11ish...any thoughts? Baffled and frustrated!! At this rate I'm NEVER gonna graduate to SPS...:(

As far as the high lvls u can do a water change to restabilize. For the doser are you sure how much its actually dosing? Since it's custom did you copy another and expect there results or did u let it dose and calculate the actual amount of your doser?

have my pump outputs controlled by ball valves down to a drip. I ran numerous tests in a controlled setting with the precise timer. I am certain I am getting the right dosages or very close to them anyway. My point remains why is my alkalinity not changing?

Thx

Glad to know 11 isn't cause to go to Defcon 5. I topped everything off and tested at 2000 nightly for 4 nights...

Night 1(Initial starting point)...9.2/450
Night 2...8.4/450
Night 3...7.7/440
Night 4...7.2/430

Is that the format of answer you were seeking?

As always Randy, thanks for your time and efforts.

Any input Randy?

OK, I took numbers this morning before I left for work.

Ca-440
Alk-9.2

To answer your question, 4 1/2 days, and no, no changes. My ATO reservoir went dry for a few hours one day, beyond that no changes at all.

I'm not sure why it took a while to come down. Maybe the test kit wasn't giving precise numbers in that range for some reason.

Anyway, it seems under control now, right? Just restart the dosing very slowly, when you do restart. :)
